Carrier optimism soars as freight volume ticks upward and drivers come back to work
CCJMore than 45% of fleets responding to a CCJ survey that measures the coronavirus’ impact on motor carriers said they expect to see an increase freight levels over the next 30 days, while only 19% expect to see a decrease – a clear signal that carriers expect to see customers shuttered by stay-at-home orders begin to reopen. Compliance reviews going remote during pandemic

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Wednesday issued new guidance on how it will conduct compliance reviews during the COVID-19 pandemic. The agency said it will leverage “all available technology to access information and records” to limit the risk of coronavirus exposure to trucking company employees and FMCSA investigators. Safety ratings will be assigned using the same standards as normal, even if no on-site review has occurred. Read More
