NASHVILLE, Tenn., February 27, 2017 — Spireon, Inc., the leader in aftermarket telematics solutions for risk management and business optimization, today announced general availability of FleetLocate FL Solar, its state-of-the-art solar-powered solution for trailer and asset tracking, and will showcase the offering today through March 2 at the American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition (TMC) in Nashville, Tennessee. At TMC, leading industry publication Heavy Duty Trucking will present Spireon with a Top 20 Product of the Year award, recognizing the FleetLocate trailer and asset management system. Spireon customer Pan American Express, a privately-owned full service transportation company, is among the first fleets to adopt FL Solar, and has cited ease of installation and extended operational life of the device as key advantages.

“For Pan American Express, having the ability to manage our trailers using a state-of-the-art solution like FL Solar is amazing,” said Sal Verazzi, operations manager at Pan American Express. “The device’s small footprint, fast installation and ability to harvest power from the sun means fleets like ours can roll out the technology with minimal downtime and get the visibility we need from a long life, near maintenance-free solution.”

FL Solar uses innovative harvesting technology to allow fleets to maintain a pulse on trailer activity regardless of whether it is connected to tractor power or not, and is ideal for fleets that operate trailers or other assets that don’t support traditional power options. Fleets that prefer a supplemental power source to ensure continuity of service will benefit from FL Solar’s long battery life, which exceeds other solar-based options on the market. Installation of FL Solar takes less than 15 minutes, reducing asset downtime, and customers can immediately tap into Spireon FleetLocate’s management platform for actionable intelligence gathered from the solar device.

“Companies like Pan American Express will save significant time from the fast and easy installation of FL Solar, which offers compact yet ruggedized housing that is highly efficient, drawing the smallest amount of current to sustain a lengthy battery life,” said Roni Taylor, vice president of industry relations at Spireon. “Even in periods of complete darkness of up to nine months, FL Solar retains operational power.”

In addition to exhibiting the company’s fleet management products at TMC, Spireon will lead the ribbon cutting to officially launch the event’s opening ceremony on Feb. 27 at 5:15 p.m. Heavy Duty Trucking will bestow its award at Spireon’s booth on Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
